Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 2006-07 recovered a variety of objects. Finds included Neolithic worked flints, a Late Bronze Age socketed axe fragment, Roman, medieval and post medieval coins. In addition, sherds of Beaker, Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery were recovered from the site.

September - October 2006. Metal-detecting.
1 Neolithic small flint biface (possibly an unfinished Early Neolithic laurel leaf or an unstruck Late Neolithic Levellois core).
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age Beaker pottery sherd.
1 Late Bronze Age socketed axe fragment (S1).
1 Roman coin and 23 pottery sherds (16 greyware, 5 oxcidised, 1 oxcidised shelly and 1 Southen Gallish Samian).
4 medieval pottery sherds (2 unglazed, 1 glazed Grimston and 1 Siegburg stoneware).
4 post-medieval pottery sherds, 1 buckle frame, 1 knife-end stop and 1 button.
1 undated lump 0f ?metal working scrap.

March - April 2007. Metal-detecting.
1 Roman coin, 32 pottery sherds (31 greyware, 1 oxcidised) and 2 furniture mounts (bell shaped).
6 medieval pottery sherds (unglazed) and 1 iron key.
1 post-medieval token, 2 pottery sherds (GRE), 1 buckle frame (tinned), 1 crotal bell and 1 crotal bell fragment.
1 undatable ?casting jet.
