Summary

Excavation of a test pit by SHARP in 2004 as part of the Village Survey recovered pieces of shell, charcoal, glass and medieval pottery.

28 July 2004. Sedgeford Historical and Archaeological Research Project. Village Survey. Test pit at 5, Littleport Cottages. SVS 86.
Littleport Cottages were agricultural workers' cottages until they were converted in 1906.
Three contexts excavated. First is mostly charcoal and household rubbish., Second is effectively topsoil without ash mixed in and has a few more finds. The third context contained medieval pottery and came down onto chalk quite quickly.
