Full Description
March 2007. Norfolk NMP.
A group of linear ditches is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 3170 2538. Many are convincing as archaeological features; others less so. Several phases of activity are clearly indicated by the variety of orientations and alignments present. Several features overlap a group of ring ditches (NHER 49224) and are presumably later than this possible Bronze Age barrow cemetery. Most of the mapped features are likely to represent parts of field boundaries, trackways and possibly enclosures. Two east-to-west oriented boundaries (visible between TG 3151 2550 and TG 3167 2551, and TG 3188 2539 and TG 3204 2539) correspond with field boundaries depicted on Dilham Tithe Map (S3), and consequently can be dated to the post medieval period.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 22 March 2007.
