Summary

The earthworks of possible ridge and furrow are visible on aerial photographs within the grounds of Barton Hall. The low earthworks are visible within the grass parkland to the west of the Hall. The identification of these earthworks as ridge and furrow is not certain and it is possible that they are the result of past efforts to improve the grassland. The location of these earthworks has since been converted to arable.

The earthworks of possible ridge and furrow are visible on aerial photographs within the grounds of Barton Hall (S1). The site is centred on TG 3522 2224. The low earthworks are visible within the grass parkland to the west of the Hall. The furrows are approximately 8m apart. The identification of these earthworks as ridge and furrow is not certain and it is possible that they are the result of past efforts to improve the grassland. The area has a noticeably smoother appearance than the surrounding grass. The location of these earthworks has since been converted to arable.
