Map

March 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a group of former field boundaries of unknown, but possible Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the west of Bray Farm, Hickling Road, Sutton (S1). The site is centred on TG 3906 2326. The site consists of a small group of ditches aligned either northwest to southeast or northeast to southwest. These are likely to represent the remains of former field boundaries and possibly, in the case of the L-shaped ditch to the east of the site, part of an enclosure, at least 50m across. The date of these features is not known, although similarly aligned field boundaries have been recorded to the north (NHER 49330) and were possibly associated with Roman date material found in the area during fieldwalking and metal detecting undertaken in advance of the Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (NHER 33989).
S. Massey (NMP), 30 March 2007.
