Summary

In 1827 when Exchange Street was being built foundation digging unearthed several broken funerary urns containing black powder. Later, in the period 1933-35, an ivory disc of uncertain date and sherds of Saxon Thetford Ware were found here.

1827. Casual Observation.
During the construction of Exchange Street, in sinking for foundations on the west side, several broken funeral urns were turned up which appeared to have contained a black powder'.

By Corn Exchange in laying of telephone cables an ivory disc was found.

Around 1935. Casual Observation.
Laying cables much Thetford Ware found an 'early drain pipe' and stoneware.
