(S2) provides some history of the chapel. A Meeting House was on this site but was demolished in 1760. In 1770 an Independent church was established. This chapel was registered under the name 'The Dissenters' Meeting House' on July 13th 1771. However after the opening of a new chapel in the village in 1857, the church eventually moved. This Meeting House was in use occasionally and but since 1955 used as farm storage.
The brick building is square, with a pyramid shaped pantile roof. In the later 19th century it was refitted and repaired externally. There is a later annexe to the north side with a lean-to roof which forms an entrance vestibule and a school-room. Against the south wall there is a very small vestibule and also the site of an adjacent cottage, which has now been demolished.

There is a small burial ground to the east containing monuments from the early 19th century onwards.
See (S2) for further information.
