Full Description
1994. Metal-detecting.
Found on building site (Abbey Homes site, formerly Lamberts Garage):
1 Early Saxon cast copper alloy annular brooch. Unusual stepped form, with outer ring of V-shaped stamps and inner ring of annular stamps, and remains of iron pin.
See drawing (S1) and polaroid (S2) (addorsed in W.F. Milligan's hand TL 88 SE 336. 18/10/94).
This find was originally recorded on the basis of A. Rogerson's memory of discussion with W.F. Milligan (NCM) regarding a casual find on a building site at Fryer's Walk. The paperwork relating to this discovery has now been located, allowing its location to be confirmed.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 24 March 2007. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 3 November 2015.
