Summary

A degraded brick structure, probably a post medieval brick kiln, was recorded during the Felbrigg Estate Woodland Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey in 2006. An irregular extraction pit about 15m to the north is the likely clay source.

Felbrigg Estate Woodland Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey. Great Wood, Site 6:
A 13m by 6m steep sided pit up to 2m deep, with a shallower ramped entrance at its western end. A degraded brick structure at the east end looks a likely indicator of a post medieval brick kiln.
An irregular extraction pit about 15m to the north is the likely clay source.
