Summary

A Neolithic stone axehead was found at this location in 1998. Metal-detecting between 2007 and 2021 recovered prehistoric worked flints including a Mesolithic microlith, a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age core and flake and a Bronze Age scraper; Roman, ?Early Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman coin; a medieval jetton and a number of other, Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman copper alloy and lead steelyard weight; Early Saxon brooches; a Late Saxon stirrup strap mount; a medieval horse harness pendant and thimble; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval buckle, signet ring, spoon fragment, lead weight and unidentified lead object.
