Summary

Map

June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
Linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 3226 2095. For the most part they share the orientation of the modern field pattern, and some are depicted on Ashmanhaugh Tithe Map (S2), indicating a relatively late, post medieval date for these elements. A few of the mapped features are slightly at odds with this pattern; some may represent a slightly earlier phase of enclosure, while others may be of non-archaeological origin.

It should be noted that aerial photographic coverage and rectification for this area was extremely poor, and this is likely to have had an adverse effect on the accuracy and certainty of the mapping.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 5 June 2007.
