Map

August 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a dispersed group of undated ditches, the majority of which are likely to be former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs within the arable land in the centre of Wheatacre village (S1-S2). The cropmarks are centred on TM 4635 9382 and are largely located in-between Church Lane, White Lion Road and Crimp Cramp Lane. The ditches and former field boundaries are too fragmentary to be chronologically diagnostic, although the majority would appear to be pre-post medieval as they exhibit no obvious link to the post medieval field layout. As the site is located at boulder clay derived soils it is possible that some of these linear features are associated with drainage.
S. Massey (NMP), 17 August 2006.
