Summary

Probable former drainage ditches were recorded during the Felbrigg Estate Woodland Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey in 2007.

Felbrigg Estate Woodland Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey. Common Plantation, Site 7:
A 4m wide linear depression, almost 230m long and up to 0.4m deep.
It is rather enigmatic, but most likely a former drainage ditch, long since out of use.
Other features to the north may be remnants of a curving woodland subdivision shown on (S1).
Remnants of at least two very shallow linear depression may be further evdence for drainage, possibly the positions of under-draining.
