Cropmarks of a trackway and linear ditches of unknown, possibly Roman, date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks were previously recorded as NHER 21842, the site of two Roman coin finds. Two parallel linear ditch cropmarks are present on a south-west to north-east alignment. These cut across linear and curvilinear ditch cropmarks that lie roughly perpendicular to them. The alignment of many of these cropmarks, including the trackway, is similar to that of an extensive Iron Age to Roman field system located further to the north-west (NHER 17291) and it is possible that some are related to it. However, this alignment is also shared by the modern field pattern and it is possible that some of the ditch cropmarks are of post medieval date.

January 2022. Broads Hidden Heritage: Aerial Perspectives.
The southern portion of the possibly Roman or post medieval linear cropmarks described above is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S3). The parallel ditches can be seen to extend further to the south than previously mapped, in some cases as far as a post medieval road that cuts diagonally across the field (NHER 64951). In character, the cropmarks appear more likely to be of post medieval rather than Roman date, but both interpretations are feasible.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk County Council, Historic Environment Service), 26 January 2022.
