Cropmarks of a medieval to post medieval road are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S5). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3491 0317 and were previously recorded as part of NHER 17290. A broad curvilinear positive cropmark is present on a roughly north-west to south-east alignment leading from Ferry Road. This turns into two parallel ditch cropmarks as it extends to the southeast towards the woodland called The Hangings. At the northern corner of the woodland the cropmarks become a single broad feature once more and turn to the south-west alongside the wood. These cropmarks correspond to the position of a former road shown on both Faden’s (1797) (S6) and Bryant’s (1826) (S7) county maps. The appearance of the cropmark suggests that it existed as a hollow way for part of its course. It is likely that the road is of medieval to early post medieval date.
