Map

June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a group of enclosures and field boundaries of unknown, but possibly late prehistoric to Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the north and the south of the A47 at Witton (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 3154 0923.
The majority of the boundaries and enclosures are aligned roughly NW-SE and NE-SW and are likely to represent fragments of a field system. Although it is possible that some of the rectilinear enclosed sections of the site, centred on TG 3142 0909 (S3) may have had a non-agricultural function.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 June 2007.

June 2011. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometry survey of proposed development site.
The area examined coincided with several linear cropmarks in the south-east part of this group - none of which were associated with any evidence for surviving sub-surface remains.
See report (S3) and NHER 68644 for further details.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 4 October 2024.

September 2013. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The excavated trenches coincided with cropmarks mapped at TG 31762 09078 and TG 31838 09091. None were associated with surviving sub-surface remains.
See NHER 68644 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 October 2024.
