Full Description
June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated and multiphase ditches are visible on aerial photographs to the immediate south of Church Farm, Surlingham (S1). The site is centred on TG 3076 0621.
The site consists of a fragmentary linear ditches, probably the remains of former field boundaries of varying dates. The date of the cropmarks is uncertain.
Finds in this general area range from Roman to Saxon, medieval to post medieval in date (NHER 31655, 31997, 35079, 36820), with a noticeable prevalence of Saxon date material. Features thought to be of possible Saxon date have been recorded under NHER 49581.
S. Massey (NMP), 28 June 2007.
June 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Three further fragmentary cropmarks, oriented northeast-southwest, were visible on (S2), centred at TG 3051 0602.
