Map

June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of field boundaries of possible medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs to the north and south of the A47 to the north of Brundall village (S1). The site is centred on TG 3212 0934.
The site consists of a series of single and double ditched boundaries all of broadly aligned the same as the surrounding road and field layout, suggesting a medieval to post medieval date. Although none of these field divisions are marked on the 1845 Tithe map (S2), possibly suggesting that it relates to an earlier layout.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 June 2007.

September 2006.
A trackway can be seen on Google Earth running across the site, previously characterised as a double ditch.
See (S3) for further details.
J. Albone (HES), 21 February 2011.

October 2015. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development site to south of Yarmouth road.
This survey identified a pair of adjacent north-north-west to south-south-east aligned linear anomalies that appear to correspond with the cropmarks recorded at TG 3226 0929. There was no evidence for surviving remains associated with the cropmarks mapped to the west.
Information from draft report. See NHER 67136 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 28 June 2023.

June 2018. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site to south of Yarmouth Road.
Although the trenches excavated coincided with most (if not all) of the cropmarks recorded to the south of Yarmouth Road no corresponding remains were identified (despite two having been associated with anomalies recorded by the preceding geophysical survey).
See report (S4) and NHER 67136 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 28 June 2023. Amended 18 January 2024.
