Map

July 2007. Norfolk NMP
Earthworks of a curvilinear enclosure are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TM 4173 9558 and lie immediately to the south of Maypole Green Farm (NHER 24750), a farmhouse of probable 17th century origin. The enclosure measures approximately 86m by 60m. It is defined by narrow ditches and banks and is marked on the first edition 25 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (S2). It is not shown on the 1840 Toft Monks tithe map (S3) and appears to relate to post medieval gardens of paddocks. However, its curvilinear form is unusual and its location on the edge of Maypole Green, could mean that it has its origins as an earlier common-edge enclosure.

November 2025. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
Sections of the above enclosure (see above) are visible as earthwork banks and ditches on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2022 (S3). As the survey was flown relatively recently it is likely that the features still survive as earthworks.
