Full Description
July 2007. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches, probably field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TM 4081 9952.
J. Albone (NMP), 04 July 2007.
November 2013. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed extension to Norton Subcourse Quarry.
This work revealed a number of ditches, several of which probably corresponded with the previously identified linear cropmarks, although unfortunately no dating evidence was recovered. Although the trenches were placed to target the cropmarks there were several for which no corresponding sub-surface feature could be identified. The soils deposits were relatively shallow so it is possible that some remains have been loss as a result of plough truncation.
See report (S3) and NHER 61882 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 26 October 2016.
