Map

November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical, metal detecting and fieldwalking survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Plot number 23.
Fieldwalking found a scatter of burnt flints, most of which were found with an associated patch of dark soil, indicating the location of a burnt flint mount. Worked flints were also retrieved, most in the same area as the burnt flints.
Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery, medieval and post-medieval building material, and post-medieval glass and copper alloy objects were also found.
A strong geophysical anomaly also indicated the likelihood of a burnt mound. Other diffuse anomalies could also have archaeological significance, some could represent former field boundaries seen on the ordnance survey 1st edition map.
Metal detecting found 15 metal objects including post-medieval copper alloy button, lopp handle for a draw and rowel spur.
