Summary

A burnt flint mound associated with a patch of dark soil was found during field reconnaisssance survey on the route of a gas pipeline in 2002. A small rectilinear platform was noted which may equate with earthworks and cropmarks of medieval houses (NHER 29499). Multi-period finds were also retrieved.

A burnt flint mound associated with a patch of dark soil was found during field reconnaisssance survey.
A small rectilinear platform was noted which may equate with earthworks and cropmarkks of medieval houses (NHER 29499). Multi-period finds were also retrieved. Late medieval and post medieval pottery and post medieval building material were found by the fieldwalking survey and two undated copper alloy objects found by the metal detecing survey. The geophysical survey recorded extensive magnetic disturbance in the area of earthworks (NHER 29499) indicating brick and tile spreads or similar.
