Summary

Geophysical survey in 2003 recorded two parallel curvilinear anomalies which related to ring ditches on the route of a gas pipeline. In addition, a cluster of substantial, discrete pit-like magnetic anomalies was recorded. Any curvilinear features in this area may be potential barrows. Some of the anomalies could also relate to a former field boundary.

Map

November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical, metal detecting and fieldwalking survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Plot number 214a.
Geophysical survey recorded two parallel curvilinear anomalies which related to ring ditches (NHER 15400). In addition, a cluster of substantial, discrete pit-like magnetic anomalies was recorded. The findings lay in the vicinity of the Weasenham barrow group, in particular NHER 36137 and 15400. Any curvilinear features in this area should therefore be considered potential barrows. Some of the anomalies could also relate to a former field boundary evident on (S1).
Fieldwalking and metal detecting survey undertaken, two objects found.
