Summary

Extremely high susceptibility readings were found during geophysical survey between 2002 and 2003 on the route of a gas pipeline. They may have been caused by disturbance during the construction of the railway (NHER 13586) nearby, but discrete pit-like anomalies were found in the approximate location of a World War Two searchlight battery (NHER 34405). Possible former field boundaries, were also detected.

November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical, metal detecting and fieldwalking survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Plot number 35.
Extremely high susceptibility readings were present, which could have been caused by disturbance during the construction of the railway (NHER 13586) which is nearby. Discrete pit-like anomalies were found in the approximate location of cropmarks believed to be a World War Two searchlight battery (NHER 34405). Distinct, parallel linear anomalies, thought to be former field boundaries, were also detected. Fieldwalking recovered medieval pottery sherds and post medieval building material.
