Full Description
November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical, metal detecting and fieldwalking survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Plot number 21.
Geophysical survey detected linear and discrete anomalies. Some of the linear anomalies may correspond with field boundaries on (S1) and (S2). Other linear anomalies on different alignments may represent an earlier system of land division. One of these was a long, curvilinear anomaly which passed through a cluster of stron pit-like anomalies/areas of in situ burning in association with raised susceptibility levels, indicative of settlement or intensive activity.
Fieldwalking recovered worked flints, medieval and post medieval pottery and post medieval ceramic building material.
Metal detecting found a medieval/post medieval lead cast leaf mount.
See (S3).
J. Allen (NLA), 13 August 2007.
