Map

September 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a linear boundary or trackway of unknown, but possible medieval to post medieval date, are visible on aerial photographs to the east of Weston Green (S1). The site is centred on TG 1154 1415. The site consists of a slightly sinuous linear boundary, signified by a single and double ditch. It is possible that the feature was double ditched along the entire course and that only small sections of the both ditches were visible on the aerial photographs. Given the parallel ditch arrangement it is possible that this feature may also have acted as a trackway.

The date of these cropmarks is uncertain although it appears to predate the field boundaries marked in this area on the 1827 Weston Longville Enclosure map (S2). The boundary or trackway follows a similar alignment to a series of field boundaries recorded from the aerial photographs to the west (NHER 50620), which are thought to date to the medieval to post medieval periods and represent elements of a pre-parliamentary enclosure landscape.

Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Norwich Western Link.
