Full Description
September 2007. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two military structure may be visible on aerial photographs to the north of Breck Road, Weston Longville (S1-S4). The site is centred on TG 1116 1399. This site is located on the periphery of the Attlebridge Airfield (NHER 3063) and may have been associated with an outlier defence or communications structure. The site is also located to the northwest of a World War One to Two military training area located on the former heath, now BlackBreck Plantation (NHER 50618) and may have been associated with this activity.
This possible World War Two site is suggested by an oval structure, measuring 7.5m by 5.5m, within an arable field with a narrow path leading towards it in 1945-6 (S1-S2). The structure was not present in 1942 (S3). The military origin of this structure is not certain and it is possible that it is agricultural in origin.
S. Massey (NMP), 12 September 2007.
