Map

October 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch, which may represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs to the northeast of Ashtree Farm, Attlebridge. (S1). The ring ditch is centred on TG 1309 1713 and is 26m in diameter. The site is located on the lower slopes of the valley side overlooking the River Wensum to the south.

The archaeological origin of these cropmarks is not certain and it is possible that they are geological in origin. The ring ditch looks quite convincing on one frame and more geological on another (S1). There is therefore a degree of uncertainty over the nature and significance of the site. However the size and positioning of the ring ditch is broadly consistent with other more convincing examples mapped nearby, such as NHER 45361, 50658.
S. Massey (NMP), 22 October 2007.
