Full Description
October 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a dispersed group of fragmentary and undated field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the east of Bush Meadow Plantation, Attlebridge (S1-S4). The site is centred on TG 1277 1793. The cropmarks grouped together under this number are likely to be multi-period and represent a palimpsest of several unrelated phases of fields and boundaries. Roman finds in the general vicinity of the site (NHER 20423) may indicate that some of the ditches are Roman in date. A number of ditches visible on aerial photographs were not mapped as these clearly represented the remains of field boundaries marked on the 1837 Attlebridge Tithe map (S5).
S. Massey (NMP), 31 October 2007.
November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
Only one cropmark fell within the area examined – a north-west to south-east aligned feature at TG 1270 1783. There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains.
See NHER 66310 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2025.
February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
A trench place to coincide with the north-west to south-east aligned cropmark at TG 1270 1783 revealed no corresponding sub-surface remains.
See NHER 66310 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2025.
