Map

November 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a small group of fragmentary linear ditches of unknown and date, probably representing the remains of former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Gray’s Wood, Weston Longville (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 1040 1690.

Finds in the area indicate activity in this area from the prehistoric, Iron Age, Roman and medieval periods (NHER 7720 and 50277). The broad range of finds in the area makes it hard to attribute the ditches to any one period, although it is possible, given the nearby finds, that they are Iron Age to Roman in date. Some of these cropmarks may be contemporary with the boundaries and fields mapped to the south of the site (NHER 50674). The date of these cropmarks is also unknown, although again it was felt that some might also be Iron Age to Roman in date.
S. Massey (NMP), 09 November 2007.
