NHER 50772 (Cropmark and Earthwork record) - Earthworks, now mostly levelled, of probable medieval to post medieval tofts and crofts

Earthworks of enclosures, probably relating to medieval to post medieval tofts, crofts and field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (S1). Two adjoining rectilinear enclosure earthworks were present parallel to Wendling Road, just to the east of Holly Farm. Medieval pottery has been found at this location (NHER 7247) and it is likely that the enclosures relate to medieval crofts and tofts. These earthworks had been levelled by 1971 and were visible as soilmarks (S2). Further ditch earthworks are visible to the south but these appear to be field boundaries and drainage ditches. Earthworks of other crofts and tofts associated with the medieval settlement of Longham Green have been recorded 160m to the west (NHER 51056).

Visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 (S3) shows that most of the earthworks have been levelled, although a few features may still survive.
