January 1999. Field Observation.
The cottages to the west of the farmhouse were briefly inspected. The resemblance in plan to a three cell house seems to be coincidental. The external walls are of good quality flint and brick, probably 18th century, with 19th century windows, an east extension, and a 20th century extension beyond that. The ground floor beams are boxed and the fireplaces remade. The cottages are shown on the 1817 map in (S1) and therefore pre date the 1835 works.
E. Rose (NLA), 14 January 1999.
