Summary

A linear ditch, possibly of post medieval date, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. It appears to fit the same general pattern of enclosure as that depicted on modern and historic maps, and there is no evidence that it dates to any earlier than this. It may have been a field boundary, or simply a track crossing the field in which it lies. A shorter, parallel length of ditch visible a short distance to its south may be contemporary, although its archaeological origin is uncertain.

Map

January 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A linear ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), with a shorter, parallel length of ditch visible 15.5m to its south, both centred around TG 2658 1704. Although it is oriented at a slight angle, in general terms the ditch conforms to the same pattern of enclosure as that depicted on 19th and 20th century maps. Certainly, there is no evidence that it dates to any earlier than the post medieval period. It may have been a field boundary, or simply a track crossing the field. The archaeological significance of the shorter length of ditch visible to its south is uncertain; it might instead be a product of modern agricultural activity.
