Map

December 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches, probably the remains of several phases of field boundaries ranging in date from the Iron Age through to the post medieval period, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Gibbethill Plantation, Bylaugh (S1-S5). The site is centred on TG 0253 2009.

Finds dating to the Iron Age, Roman, Saxon and medieval periods have been found within the wider area of this site (NHER 17229) and it is therefore possible that the features date broadly to these periods. Several of the boundaries are double ditched and may therefore represent the remains of trackways running along the edges of fields or grazing areas. A number of linear cropmarks relating to field boundaries depicted on the Map of Beck Hall, dating to around 1700-25 (S6) have been omitted from the mapping.
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2007.
