Full Description
March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a series of fragmentary ditches, probably represent the remains of former field boundaries of unknown date, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Swanton Morley Road (S1). The site is centred on TG 0044 1957. It is possible that these cropmarks, which are likely to represent more than one phase of boundaries, date to the Iron Age, Roman or Saxon periods. Finds in the area range in date from Iron Age, Roman and Saxon periods (NHER 17486 and 25938). It must be noted that these cropmarks are visible within a winter crop and that some of the ditches mapped, in particular those within the northern part of the site, may be the result of agricultural activity earlier in the growing season.
S. Massey (NMP), 03 March 2008.
