Map

March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a small group of fragmentary ditches, potentially representing the remains of former field or land boundaries of possible Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to the south of the Roman fort (NHER 17486) within Swanton Morley airfield (NHER 2830). The site is centred on TG 0117 1903.

Some elements of the site would appear to follow the same alignment as the major axis of the fort and other boundaries associated with it. However there is a slight discrepancy between the ditches and the remainder of the Roman landscape in this area. It is therefore possible that these ditches represent the remains of a separate and possibly unrelated phase of activity.
S. Massey (NMP), 03 March 2008.
