Full Description
March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A small multi-period cropmark site consisting of fragmentary ditches, probably the remains of several phases of field boundaries of unknown date, but with possible Roman to late Saxon phases, is visible on aerial photographs to the south of Whin Common, Tottenhill (S1-S2). The site is centred on TF 6380 1092 and aggregate extraction has taken place within the bounds of the site. Finds in the general vicinity of the site range in date from prehistoric, Roman and Saxon periods (NHER 2266, 30257) and the site is located to the east of the late Iron Age to Roman settlement at Police House Field, Watlington (NHER 39457).
The site consists of fragmentary ditches and former field boundaries. A small square enclosure, 14m across, is located to the north of the group.
S. Massey (NMP), 05 March 2008.
