Full Description
March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated ditches, possibly relating to a rectilinear enclosure of Roman or medieval in date, are visible on aerial photographs to the east of Downham Road, Watlington (S1).
The archaeological nature of these ditches is uncertain due to the predominance of geological cropmarks in this area (S2), which make the confident identification of archaeological cropmarks problematic. Finds in the general vicinity indicate Roman and medieval activity at or near the area of the site (NHER 29718, 31435, 40438).
S. Massey (NMP), 05 March 2008.
