Summary

Metal-detecting in 2008/2009 and between 2016 and 2019 recovered Neolithic flint flakes; medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds and probable pottery production debris; medieval and post-medieval coins and Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman brooches; a Late Saxon ?vessel mount and cheek-piece; a Late Saxon/medieval sword pommel; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval horse harness pendant, horse harness suspension-mount, harness bar mount and unusual keyhole escutcheon plate; a medieval/post-medieval cauldron foot and post-medieval crotal bells and a bodkin or headdress pin. The medieval pottery sherds and probable production debris recovered from the site may indicate that pottery production may have taken place on this site or nearby. Similar pottery production debris has been recovered to the directly west of this site at NHER 8495 and other possible pottery production sites have been identified to the south, at NHER 1076 and NHER 8479.
