Map

Possible site of brickworks.“The parish council has bought the old brickyard which had become a dumping ground to turn it into a nature trail ands visitor attraction. Pupils from the primary school will be allocated an area there to grow things” (S1) Local residents in 2006 indicated the lake as the area purchased and cleared in 1998 but had no knowledge of it having been a brickworks. No brickworks is marked on (S2) and (S3); (S2) shows this spot as open land beside a tree belt but (S3) shows the present harp-shaped lake in Lake Wood. It is possible the lake could have been caused by clay extraction between these dates but one would have thought it was an ornamental lake for the Hall. The attribution may be mistaken.
E. Rose (NLA), 31 October 2006.
