Summary

Neo-Tudor house of brick and timber frame, constructed 1930 on site of older building. One wing with internal gable stack; at right-angles a timber-framed wing with crownpost motif in gable, and in angle a lesser brick wing with side stack. Leaded windows. Important example of a purpose-built “gentleman’s residence” of the mid 20th century in Tudor style.

Constructed 1930 on site of older building. Architect J Owen Bond. Neo-Tudor house of brick and timber frame. One wing with internal gable stack; at right angles a timber-framed wing with crownpost motif in gable, and in angle a lesser brick wing with side stack. Leaded windows. Interior has a grand oak staircase with Tudor roses carved on the newels; applied plaster decoration to walls; large entrance hall with panelled recess. Important example of a purpose-built “gentleman’s residence” of the mid 20th century in Tudor style (rather than mock-Tudor).
