Full Description
Site of present house is shown as part of common by (S1)
Partly two storeyed mid 20th century but with long single storey thatched section. This has huge fireplace of 18th-19th century brick against the new house. A partition to the west is of brickwork of similar date set below a rough beam. However the side walls are 20th century flettons and concrete.
Owners stated this was a butchery and that the common takes its name from the cattle kept here. Certainly an industrial origin seems probable.
E. Rose (NLA), 21 September 2001.
