Summary

A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in 2008 recovered a range of finds including ?Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a possible medieval floor tile; a post-medieval pantile; and post-medieval coin and a number of other, undatable metal objects. An excavation between 2008 and 2009 revealed three possible furrows, two ditches, one stake-hole and a layer of subsoil of medieval date. Medieval finds were recovered from the subsoil including a seal matrix.

March-April 2008. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection (Field 15).
Finds recovered included:
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd.
2 medieval pottery sherds.
1 ?medieval ?floor tile.
1 post-medieval coin, 2 pottery sherds and 1 pantile.
2 ?post-medieval pottery sherds (1 possibly Roman).
1 undatable copper alloy sheet fragment, 1 lead waste fragment and 1 lead unidentified object fragment.
A higher than average concentration of small lead scraps was noted, the majority of which was not collected. Some modern ceramic building material fragments and metal artefacts were also observed, but not collected.
