Summary

Archaeological work at this site between 2008 and 2010 identified little in the way of significant remains. Trial trenching in 2008 exposed a post-medieval ditch and a pit of probable modern date containing animal remains. A watching brief maintained during subsequent groundworks in 2009/2010 had negative results, with no archaeologically significant features or deposits observed.

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trenches 70-71).
The northernmost of the two trenches excavated at this location exposed a north-east to south-west aligned ditch. This feature corresponds with a former field boundary marked on 19th-century maps.
The only other feature identified as a pit of probable modern date that contained the remains of an adult sheep/goat. The fill of this pit was also found to contain several neonatal sheep/goat elements.
See reports (S1) and (S2) for further details. This work is also noted in (S3).
