Summary

Archaeological work undertaken at this site between 2008 and 2010 revealed little in the way of significant remains. Trial trenching in 2008 identified a single undated pit. A watching brief maintained during subsequent groundworks in 2009/2010 had largely negative results with no additional archaeologically-significant features or deposits observed. A medieval buckle was recovered from subsoil during this phase of work.

Full Description

The results of a fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey undertaken in March-April 2008 are now recorded under NHER 28973.

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trenches 82 and 83).
An undated pit was the only feature revealed by the two trenches excavated at this site.
A subsoil layer present in the northernmost trench was seen as evidence for medieval open-field agriculture.

2009-2010. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping and other groundworks associated with installation of the Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable.
No archaeologically significant features or deposits observed. Medieval buckle recovered from subsoil layer.
