6 December 1939. Wreck of Heinkel, which had collided with West Beckham (Bodham Hill) radar tower after mine laying and crashed below high water mark (and was thus not counted as the first German aircraft of WWII to be brought down on British soil).The incident is particularly important as it reinforced the idea, current at the time, that radar was some sort of secret weapon that could shoot down aircraft.
