Summary

Two large quarry pits, with irregular sloping sides and bases, were identified as earthworks during a field visit. They are also visible, to their full extent, on lidar imagery from a survey flown in 2015. They correspond to quarry pits shown on 19th and early 20th century Ordnance Survey maps.

The quarry pits described above are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery from a survey flown in 2015 (S1). They correspond to quarry pits shown on the First Edition 6-inch map (S2) and the 1902-1907 Ordnance Survey 25-inch (S3), indicating that they are of post-medieval to modern date. The mapped extent of this record has been amended and enlarged to reflect their extent as visible on the lidar [1], but they have not been mapped.
