Summary

Metal-detecting between 2008 and 2013 recovered prehistoric worked flints including an Upper Palaeolithic blade, a Neolithic flaked axe and a late prehistoric core fragment; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a large number of Roman, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval coins (including a small medieval coin hoard); medieval and post-medieval jettons and Late Bronze Age to post-medieval and undated metal objects. The metal objects include a Late Bronze Age sword; Late Saxon zoomorphic stirrup terminal; medieval dress accessories, sword scabbard chape, unusually large strap loop, pot-mends, a strap-clasp/book-clasp, seal matrix, silver finger ring, spur buckle and annular brooch; medieval/post-medieval vessel fragments, several crudely cast rings, the shoulder bolster from a whittle-tang knife, bell and purse frame fragment and post-medieval cloth seals, dress accessories, a four-part cloth seal, fragment of a rowel spur, knife end-stop, hooked sword belt mount, lead weight and crotal bells.

3 medieval coins, 1 jetton, 9 pottery sherds (6 glazed Grimston, 3 unglazed), 28 ceramic peg roof tile fragments, 3 buckle frames, 1 composite strap-end forked spacer, 2 composite strap-ends, 1 strap-end, 1 strap-loop, 1 lead seal matrix (inscription: 'Seal of William Frear/Fry/Free'), 1 signet ring, 1 mount (gilt), 1 purse bar, 1 whittle-tang knife end-cap, 1 brooch (annular) and 1 lead pot mend.
9 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds (LMT), 1 whittle-tang knife shoulder bolster, 1 lead pot-mend, 1 monumnetal bass palimpset fragment, 4 buckle frames and 1 lead weight.
6 post-medieval coins, 3 tokens, 6 jettons, 10 pottery sherds (9 GRE, 1 salt-glazed stoneware), 53 ceramic peg roof tile fragments. 10 buckle frames (inc 1 white metal coated), 1 finger ring (gilt), 1 white metal coated hooked tag, 1 harness/belt mount (white metal coated), 1 lead cloth seal, 1 lead window came junction, 1 lead powder charger nozzel, 1 lead weight, 1 spurside, 1 key-hole escutcheon with attached lock mechanisum, 1 hooked tag, 1 shoe buckle, 2 crotal bells, 1 harness/belt mount, 1 furniture handle escucheon and 1 clapper bell.
