Map

July 2008
Two extant World War Two Nissen huts are present on land at Church Road, Sea Palling. They are visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs, but no other military structures are present at the site at that date (S1). According to details in (S2) they were constructed by the army, in which case it is possible that they relate to the anti-invasion defences along this stretch of coast. Alternatively they may have related to an RAF wireless station that was located 230m to the south (NHER 43383). The site was formerly part of the vicarage garden and it is possible that the house itself was used by the military during the war, although no evidence has been found to support this. (S2) states that the two Nissen huts are extant and in use but their condition is unknown.
