Summary

Metal detecting in 2007 recovered an incomplete bronze valve from a two-piece looped palstave mould of Middle Bronze Age date. The other half of this mould was subsequently found in the adjacent field, along with the two halves of a second mould (NHER 58729). The recovery of two complete moulds at this location suggests that palstaves were potentially being produced here.
